Engine 2
Back to History Section
Engine 2 was one of the 4 original companies of the paid department. The company was stationed in the old John Street station until 1911 then relocated when the new Central Station was built on Elizabeth St. It remained there until Central was relocated to Bleecker Street in a new station house. Pictured above is Engine 2's 1973 Seagrave. Below is its 1923 America LaFrance rig. This was the first to be delivered to the department with pneumatic tires. Note however it had a right hand stirring wheel. Below that, is a shot of Central Station with Engine 2 in the middle. This was it's 1971 Sanford rig which only served 2 Engine for 2 years and was then transferred to Engine 10. On the left is truck2 and to the right is car 202. On the bottom is Steamer 2. This rig was restored by Utica National Insurance.
